6th Grade Mathematics Syllabus

Prerequisitc: Completion of 5th grade mathematics.

Course Overview:
During the course of the school year, students will be exposed to a variety of mathematical concepts. Some topics will just be touched on to prepare for future mathematic courses. Topics in 6th grade math include but are not limited to: ratios, rates, tables, ordering numbers and integers, absolute value, coordinate plane systems, equations, expressions, centers of medium, perimeter, area, and volume.

A - 90-100%
B - 80-89%
C - 70-79%
D - 60-69%
F - Below 60
Grades will be determined by daily problems, hands-on section activities, sections practice, topic reviews, topic assessments, topic binders, and various topic projects.
Late Work Policy:
If a student comes to class without homework from the previous day, they are subject to detention. The detention must be completed the day of no submission of homework or the following day. The student will be assigned additional detentions if homework still does not return to class. After three detentions, a zero will be given for the homework assignment. If the student has an excused absence, they are not subject to detention.

If you need help during the course of the year, please ask. The counselor has a tutoring service available to students.

- Responsibility and organization are the keys toward a successful school year.
- All students are expected to properly address their papers with name, date, period, and title of assignment.
- Communicate with me directly when you need help of any kind. I will be available for homework help. I am here for you!
